Innovation in Medical Education

IMU- Ron Harden Innovation in Medical Education (IMU-RHIME)

The IMU-Ron Harden Innovation in Medical Education Award was introduced to fulfill two objectives:
  1. to encourage innovations in medical education (medical & health professions)
  2. to recognize innovations by academics which otherwise might go unnoticed
The award honors Professor Ronald Harden who played a crucial role in the inception of the International Medical University; and is a prestigious award because Ron is widely accepted as a “guru “in medical education worldwide.
Submissions, in the form of abstracts and extended abstracts, are invited for the 6th Congress of the Asian Medical Education Association
The guidelines are as follows:
  • There is no limit to the number of innovations. However, at least ONE author should register for the Congress.
  • The title and abstract should not reveal the name of the workplace, to ensure anonymity.
  • The abstract should not be more than 250 words. Font and spacing is the same as that for oral and poster presentations i.e. Arial, font size 11, single spacing
  • The extended abstract should be not more than 500 words and must contain (a) The introduction/ background of why this innovation is necessary (b) Description of the innovation (c) Results of evaluation (if already done) (e) Discussion (f) References
  • Tested innovations will be at an advantage. However, innovative ideas will also be weighed on their merits.
Six innovations will be short-listed by a panel of international judges. The authors of the short listed innovations will be informed. These innovations are to be presented at the plenary, where a panel of judges will decide on the winner.  The award carries a rolling trophy and RM3000 cash prize. Abstracts that are not short listed for the IMU RHIME Award will be categorized under Free Paper Sessions.
